Honorable Chief Guest of the day, distinguished guests for the occasion,teachers, parents and all my dear friends wish you very very Happy Independence Day.
As you know all of us have gathered here to celebrate 67th independence day of our nation. This day, after the hosting national flag, we salute and remember the heroic deeds of all freedom fighters. As a citizen of India, I feel so proud to give a speech on Independence Day and share some of my views with you all. On the night of August 14, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru rose to make a speech on Independence day in New Delhi, When the world sleeps, India will wake to life and freedom. India became free from the British rule. Now, India is the largest democratic country in the world. The countrys strength is to find, Unity in diversity. But, there are stray incidents that test her secularism but the people of India are ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of unity.
My dear friends,We were the privileged lot to have been born in free India. We were able to breathe the fresh free air since our birth. If at all we want to know the pangs of agony of being slaves under a foreign rule, we must ask our elders born before 1947. It was indeed a Himalayan task for every Indian those days to fight against those powerful giants the British rulers. We must not allow those hard times and struggles fade away from our memories.Hence it is befitting for us to celebrate such National festivals and recall those heroic deeds of our National heroes. We remember them today.
Independence Day Speech For Students
Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again.
Today we remember the great leaders who gave their lives for the nations freedom and prosperity. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar gave the longest written constitution to us. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru worked for an Industrialized India. Gandhi ji taught us Ahimsa and Non-violence. Subhash Chandra Bose inducted courage in us. Swami Vivekanand gave us spiritual power. But its not good to remember the heroic deeds of only few main leaders of freedom fight because the freedom fighting was collective effort. Without cooperation, sacrifice and involvement of all Indians it was impossible to get the freedom. So people of India were the real national heroes behind the success. We should express our sincere gratitude to all those who participated in the freedom struggle. This can only be done by defending our freedom like our ancestral property which cannot be valued.
But the questions arises How to defend?
We know that Single person cannot defend it; again group effort is essential, it is nothing but unity.
But again How to form this unity?
We should always remember that only patriotism can form unity irrespective of religion, language, caste, customs and traditions. So having patriotism only can save the freedom of our nation.
To keep faith in secularism
No compromise must be with patriotism,
Punish the forces that support terrorism
Else one bad day we will loose our freedom.
Well at the end we must take an oath that let us do our duty of preparing ourselves to be well-educated citizens of tomorrow. Let us do our duty sincerely and do work hard to achieve a goal. Today we require youngsters with lot of knowledge and energy. Illiteracy is the first enemy for a democratic nation. Let us get rid of illiteracy and take India to a bright future.
Jai Hind Jai Bharat..!!!!

“Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments by
narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from
the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches
its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary
desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,
let my country awake.”

(from Geetanjali)
My sleep got disturbed, thrice that day;
I could not sleep tho’ a holiday;
My mind was filled with thoughts unclear;
I got up in the morn, much earlier;
‘Twas India’s Independence Day!
I could not sleep tho’ a holiday;
My mind was filled with thoughts unclear;
I got up in the morn, much earlier;
‘Twas India’s Independence Day!
Thunder, lightning filled the night’s Sky;
The day much overcast did fly;
The Rain was just a drizzle that day;
Wetted the ground of mud and clay;
‘Twas 15th of August, a rainy day.
The day much overcast did fly;
The Rain was just a drizzle that day;
Wetted the ground of mud and clay;
‘Twas 15th of August, a rainy day.
The pea-birds howled and groaned that night;
The Rain made them shiver with fright;
Though ten, it looked like six in the morn;
The Sun behind the clouds had gone;
The Sky ground-glass remained that day.
The Rain made them shiver with fright;
Though ten, it looked like six in the morn;
The Sun behind the clouds had gone;
The Sky ground-glass remained that day.
The leaky tap-waters that fell,
Raised wavelets, ploppy-toned and swell;
Rain-drops on cables looked like pearls;
Dropped, formed again, enticing souls;
It looked it would rain long that day.
Raised wavelets, ploppy-toned and swell;
Rain-drops on cables looked like pearls;
Dropped, formed again, enticing souls;
It looked it would rain long that day.
Rain-drops hanging beneath fir-twigs;
Glittered in the scarce light like figs;
The whole tree was aglow, alit;
A thing of beauty, don’t miss it!
The Sky looked like a barred-white board!
Glittered in the scarce light like figs;
The whole tree was aglow, alit;
A thing of beauty, don’t miss it!
The Sky looked like a barred-white board!
A frail, brown-skinned, bony human,
With sack on head, bent-back, he ran!
The Indian was agonizing!
Tho’ people keep sermonizing!
Fifty years after Independence!
What good was done for the common-man?
With sack on head, bent-back, he ran!
The Indian was agonizing!
Tho’ people keep sermonizing!
Fifty years after Independence!
What good was done for the common-man?
Better than Heaven or Arcadia
I love thee, O my India!
And thy love I shall give
To every brother nation that lives.
God made the Earth;
Man made confining countries
And their fancy-frozen boundaries.
But with unfound boundless love
I behold the borderland of my India
Expanding into the World.
Hail, mother of religions, lotus, scenic beauty,
and sages!
Thy wide doors are open,
Welcoming God’s true sons through all ages.
Where Ganges, woods, Himalayan caves, and
men dream God -
I am hallowed; my body touched that sod
I love thee, O my India!

Indian Independence day essay kids students hindi english
The 15th of August is a very important day in the history of our country – India.
It was on this day in 1947 that India became independent. We won freedom after a hard struggle. On this day our first Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled The National Flag at The Red Fort for the first time.
All the people irrespective of their caste, look and creed celebrate this day every year amidst great rejoicing. It is declared a public holiday. On this day we take a pledge to defend our freedom with all our might.
The Independence Day is celebrated all over India with great joy. People hold meetings. Fly the tricolor and sing the national anthem. There are great enthusiasms among them.
In Delhi, the capital of India, this day is celebrated with great pomp and show. People gather in large numbers into the parade ground in front the red fort. There is a great hustle and bustle everywhere. They line up the roads all leading to the fort and eagerly wait for the arrival of the Prime Minter.
The foreign ambassadors and dignitaries also partipcate in the celebrations. The prime minster unfurls the national flag. A guard of honor is given by the local police and armed forces personnel. A salute of 21 guns is fired. The military band plays the national anthem. The Prime Minister greets the ambassadors seated at the parapet and delivers a speech.
Homage is paid to those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. After the Prime Minister’s speech, the functions come to an end with the recital of our national anthem, ‘Jan Gina Manna’ and the crowd begins to melt away.
The Independence Day reminds us of those patriots who fought and suffered to win freedom for us.
